Pilot Program Update: Production Progress and Spring Deployment

Production Progress and Spring Deployment

We currently expect to begin deploying Ori Cattle Pilot Program tags in March 2027, with January 2027 remaining our current production target. We know this has been a long wait, especially for producers who have already paid and are planning around receiving their tags. We’re sorry for the delay and want to provide a clear picture of our progress and deployment planning.

Why spring makes practical sense

For operations with spring calving, March offers a more practical deployment window than the winter ranging months. Gathering cattle specifically to apply tags during winter can mean additional handling, labor, and weather challenges. Aligning deployment with spring calving and scheduled cattle work gives producers opportunities to apply tags when animals are already being handled.

Calving seasons, weather, and handling schedules vary across operations. These considerations are helping guide our release planning alongside testing and production readiness.

Testing and production progress

During field testing, we identified a firmware change that affected low-power operation, causing some batteries to drain faster than expected. Corrected firmware is now being tested to confirm that it resolves the issue.

Remaining work also includes recalibrating the injection mold for the tag housing, testing its material composition, and assessing durability under demanding conditions. These adjustments require further validation through live field testing. Scheduling specialized testing and manufacturing with external partners has also taken longer than anticipated.

Planning for delivery

Shipping across Canada and the United States requires room for holiday volumes, customs processing, and winter weather. These considerations form part of our planning, alongside the remaining testing and practical cattle-handling opportunities.

March 2027 remains our best estimate for deployment to begin. It is an estimated starting window, rather than a guaranteed arrival date for every order.
